Baha Ba’r (literally meaning “Flood Bar”) is nestled in the heart of Maite village, 1km south of San Juan town and 8km from Siquijor port. It is a restaurant / bar designed and built to reflect the traditional island wood designs with hints of the commonly seen 19th and 20th century Spanish influences and stone structures.

Baha Ba’r has a “loungey” informal laid-back atmosphere that welcomes overseas visitors and locals alike. It prides itself on having an extensive tapas style menu that permits you to experience the best flavours of the Philippines and a cocktail drinks menu unrivaled on Siquijor if not the Visayas.

The upstairs seating area has seating for 54 customers, 2 bar and dining areas; an exotic wood lounge bar located at the top of the stairs and a more open sports-bar flagstone stone floor area, the “Kusina Bar”.

The Executive chef, Albert Niez, is a young chef from Dumaguete who has worked in both traditional and western kitchens, prides himself on providing the freshest local ingredients from Siquijor and local districts. At Baha Ba’r he has taken traditional Philippines recipes and added ingredients to make them appeal more to a cross-cultural diner. There are also has a few familiar ‘more- traditional’ western favourites on offer.

The cocktail drinks menu has been designed by Kevin Brownlee, a renown barman from Vancouver who has won international competitions and has personally compiled a list of cocktails based only on island fruits he sourced and experimented with (some you may have never experienced). The drinks are mixed with Philippine spirits, homemade syrups and traditional hard liquor staples. The bar also has a good range of beers, wine and soft drinks on offer.

Baha Ba’r has beach access for snorkeling and could be considered as your adventure and fun centre as we offer the following activities and amenities in addition to a great ambiance:

• Diving – Baha Bar has an informal relationship with the Sea Pearl Divers Dive School www.seapearldivers.com, a Padi accredited dive school that offers diving experiences to all the local sites, Apo Island and Dumaguete (Muck diving). The dive instructors form the UK and Netherlands have over 35 years of experience between them, most of which is from the Philippine Islands. Equipment and snorkel gear hire also available.
• Other Recreational Activities – Mountain bike hire (many partially paved roads in the hills), stand up paddle boards (SUP), traditional kyaks for hire, fishing trips in traditional kyaks with local fisherman, visits to Catabon cave (and others where you can experience some serious speleology!), hike to see the wild monkeys of Siquijor (if they cooperate and come out to feed!) or walk the hill trails with local guides. Televised sports are covered live (in the Kosina Bar), and boules.  All the more difficult stuff above can be arranged with some notice and patience!.
• Artisans – We plan to have a studio at site (april 2015) which will host and display local carvings and art. In addition there is a workshop too where local artists work their profession from time to time (see schedule at bar).
• Child Friendly – We are in the process of building a tree house (Feb 2015) and swings and slides that are far enough away from the sea and the road to make sure children are safe.
• Baha Bar is open for breakfast, lunch and dinner (8am – 11pm) and is arguably the best coffee shop on the island.
